what's your experience with medical marijuana for PTSD? I think, if therapy doesn't help much, that that's the route I want to take.

weed can be super effective for managing ptsd symptoms! i would recommend that if you get prescribed medical marijuana to continue going to therapy. marijuana can help with the symptoms, but from experience, therapy will get to the root of the problem. the only problems my friends have had with medical marijuana have been heightened anxiety/paranoia, but that’s manageable as long as ur taking the right amount, and it can depend on what kind ur taking as well :) good luck on your journey!

My father has major ptsd and trauma and this is basically his only means of medication.

I suffer from moderate to severe depression and low to moderate anxiety. But I have a mild form of ptsd I think, which is why I was diagnosed with the two above. I am on my 9th day of my second t-break! I’m really glad I’m on one. After my first breakup all I did was smoke to keep my mind off of my former partner. I think I’m moving on. I will admit there have been times where I freaked out and tweaked with weed, but that’s only because I either smoked it in extremely large amounts or I was around people (social anxiety). Otherwise it’s been a great way to remind myself that I’m allowed to relax and let my nervous system calm down, even if it’s just a little bit. The best times I’ve had after getting a little buzzed were the times I meditated and when I was watching a movie. I like to watch families adopt greyhounds when I’m high in particular! There were days I’d go for walks and I’d just feel so grounded with the fresh air and the sound of leaves rustling. Something about it made me feel like everything _can_ be alright. You wanna make sure you experience the love of weed!!! I am so easily paranoid and anxious that sometimes I have to remind myself I’m here, grounded and alive. Weed has taught me a lot about how to reap the rewards of that mentality :) your experience can really go either way, just strap in and enjoy the ride! Also, there are a ton of options at the dispensary!! I’m learning that I actually don’t like that much THC, and that when I do smoke I hate the ‘come-up’. I really enjoy the plateau part of the high the most. After trying a lot of different strains I’ve learned about what types of strains cater to that preference, so keep in mind that when you try something new, take it slow! Savor the feeling and LISTEN!!! :) Weed is about enjoying what’s with you in the moment. It’s not a good drug for forgetting, which is why it’s one of the good ones ;) Ptsd is a huuuugggeee meany. I guess what I’m trying to say is that weed will not take it away! But it’ll show you new ways to manage it ❤️

@4byfour Also, my most effective sessions in therapy were the ones where I had smoked beforehand
