Hi, I’ve never been formally diagnosed with any sort of ASD but I do a lot of independent research and I think I check more boxes than I don’t when it comes to symptoms and manifestation. Should I look into getting g a diagnosis or do you guys think I’m just being dramatic? I’ve never gotten a diagnosis because every mental health screening I’ve ever had just assumes that since I get sarcasm I must not be autistic.

You know yourself better than anyone else does. Besides… neurotypical people don’t sit around wondering if they are autistic.

Self Diagnosis is so valid. It's the first step to being diagnosed. -A diagnosed Autistic

For example: I’m really bad at reading the room and understanding social cues, but I get most common expressions. I feel really uncomfortable with eye contact and how much is appropriate, but I have been diagnosed with anxiety so that makes sense. I stim, but that’s not a huge indicator. I also get really drained really fast in social situations and small talk is my personal hell. If anyone could offer advice or other signs to look for I’d appreciate it
