Yes!! I have a habit of associating feelings/emotions with something that is irrelevant.
If I am having a panic attack, or depressive/anxious episode while doing anything, seeing, hearing, smelling something I will sometimes forever associate that smell, sound, activity, etc, with that feeling. Then it will make me depressed/anxious or have a panic attack when seeing, hearing, smelling, doing whatever it is. This happens with things I watch, the seasons, activities, foods, scents, etc. Right now its my house, I hate being in my house so much now because of my intense panic, anxiety and depression I've experienced recently.
I know exactly what you’re talking about! Has that ever made you feel anxiety about doing something you love, for fear that if you have anxiety during it, you wouldn’t want to do that thing you love anymore?
Unfortunately yes😞 some shows/movies I used to love I can't watch right now. If I do my anxiety gets bad, sometimes if I take a break from those things, try to find comfort in something else, it helps me a lot. Once some time passes, I am sometimes able to return to those things. It still sucks though that I'm like this.😭
Yes! This is me 100%. I currently can't even be at my home bc I associate the sights and smells there with past trauma I become very distressed. I'm trying to figure out if I will actually have to move or if I'll be able to go back. So far, not so good. I just want to stay in a bubble.. bc anytime I try to branch out, and do anything, I'm always triggered and can't smell a certain smell anymore, or eat a certain food, be around a certain person, etc. I hate it so much.
