I'd appreciate insight from anyone who has any perspective on similar experiences, especially anyone who has experience with migraines, visual snow, delusions, mania, brain fog, or even just spirituality. I'm oprn to all opinions. I get a bit manic/delusional/spiritual during migraines. I lump those three together because while I'm not usually a spiritual person, my migraines make my mind wander. Along with about weekly migraines, I have visual snow 24/7. My vision gets extra wiggly before and during migraines. My current guess is that the distortion of my senses + the brain fog that come along with migraines put me in an altered state. When I have a migraine, my "out there" beliefs include believing that my migraine is actually my third eye trying to open, believing that I have to harness the "gift" of my visual snow, and/or believing that there's some vague but urgent message sent to me through the cosmos that I can't figure out how to read. Anyone experience anything similar to any part of this? Again, ALL thoughts and opinions are welcome.

@DixieLamb I’ve also had that flash of light in my peripheral vision lately. The eye ER told me it wasn’t a retinal tear and the neuro ophthalmologist said it could be migraine but it’s odd that is happens so frequently. The ER thought it might have to do with my IIH but it doesn’t really match the symptoms. Im seeing a retinal specialist soon. If I find out anything I’ll update.

The closest thing I experience to the mania you describe is after the migraine goes away I feel that sense of pain relief and it almost feels like I just took an opioid because of the immense relief I feel and if it goes away at night I don’t want to go to sleep and I want to revel in my new pain free life instead. As far as the visual effects I get plenty. I have a static like effect kind of like a tv static that’s overlaying everything you see, I see electric like shooting wiggles in my vision sometimes and I don’t know how else to describe that except maybe tiny lightning? I get blotches of my vision blacked out sometimes and usually the blacked out area has many horizontal lines all over it and the tv static, or I get spots of different colored light in my vision that can range in color, usually yellow orange and pink but it can be green or blue as well

@Fluffsy This sounds weird but the visual effects feel so natural and normal to me when I have a migraine that I didn’t even think to mention it to a doctor because it just seemed like my brain was just trying to cope with the pain. When I first went in all I described was the pain because the visual effects didn’t even bother me at the level of pain I was in

I'm not sure that I have a lot of insight to share about it, but I do understand manic/delusion/spiritual as one word, so I thought I'd say that part at least. As far as your blizzard, yeah, I get that occasionally, though it's not very pronounced, and not even something I realized until I read what you said about it. I'd say it's more wiggly than snowy, but yeah, I get that. I do get what looks like a bright sunshine, on the very left side of my field of vision, like a camera flash that never goes away. If I look up, it goes up, if I look down it goes down, but it always remains just on the edge of my field of vision, I can never focus on it. It's different than the visual disturbances of the average occular migraine, yet it's the same diagnosis, and I manage both hallucinations the same. Is that helpful? Or more confusing?
