My former partner is a doctor and he sat me down and discussed with me that he believes I have fibromyalgia. I trust him, but I don’t know what to do next. Is there medication for fibromyalgia? He says I should try and get a diagnosis and they can help me from there but how is fibromyalgia treated? I’ve been surviving without meds, what would you do in my situation? Can you treat it on your own?

Unfortunately there is no cure or direct treatment. You can get diagnosed with fibromyalgia, but most places don’t work with you on it. Medication for symptoms is really all they can do, and they’ll usually offer physical therapy. I highly recommend pool therapy, massage, chiropractic, and cupping as supplementary treatments!

I take Lyrica and it helps with the neuropathy and helps make the chronic pain less severe. Staying active helps me a lot! I go on short walks and do lots of stretching. If I go a few days being sedentary, I end up in a flare-up. I've recently reduced my gluten intake and that's helping a bit too.

You could get a proper diagnosis.. however I can say I’ve been struggling with this for 6 years and nothing helps… but that’s just for me .. I’ve tried almost everything recommended except moving to a hot island which I can’t do.. so I don’t know 🤷🏽‍♀️ but whatever you decide I hope it works out for you. 💕

I was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia myself. My doctor wants me to try light exercises- yoga, Tai Chi, etc. And if it doesn't help she wants to start me on cymbalta. My other health conditions make exercise difficult though. But you could start there! I've also heard that dietary changes can help. I would probably seek a proper diagnosis though, if I were you.

@yellow.sloth I've had several providers tell me to try Tai Chi.
