I like to share this with people who struggle with overstimulation or anxiety/ panic attacks, even disassociation. I definitely didn’t come up with this but the five sense trick, look for 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste. By the time you’re done hopefully you’re more grounded ,, or at least briefly distracted in a safe way.

      hey daisy! it can be helpful for some people and detrimental for others. for me it doesn't personally work, but i had an ex girlfriend where it was the only thing that could calm her down. thank you savannah for sharing!
