Hi I’m just really feeling burnt out right now. My health has been really bad these past few weeks and I’ve been in severe pain yet I just keep pushing myself harder and harder. I had seen a pain specialist and he told me I just had to keep living life like every else because my pain was all in my head and wasn’t even that bad (he’s an absolutely jerk wad I have another post on here about him) and because of him saying that I just keep pushing myself when I have nothing left in me to keep going. I feel like I’ve reached my breaking point now I’m in pain I’m depressed and now I’m so exhausted I have no energy left. How do I get past the burn out? I still have to go to work and everything it’s like I’m not gonna get a break but I just can’t do this any longer. Im so tired and miserable and in pain I just can’t keep pushing forward. How am I supposed to rest and take a break when there’s no time to take a break or rest? I just want to feel better! No one told me how hard it was going to be to live with chronic illness and I feel gypped out of having a normal life

Sorry to hear about this horrible doctor! Chronic illness is definitely a disease and you deserve to take a day off when you feel burnt out, the best thing to do is to take a break and rest, you deserve it, allow yourself!

I constantly feel like a better life without illness was stolen from me. It's not fair that we have to go through all these struggles that neurotypical people don't. Know that life doesn't have to have meaning or purpose for right now, trying to think about my life and future makes it so much worse for me. All you have to do get through today, and try to do things that will make tomorrow easier to get through, and don't think any farther ahead than that. It's way easier said than done, but trying to just focus on right now helps me a lot with the feelings of burnout and overwhelm. Gratitude mindfulness exercises could help too, even if it's just at night thinking "I'm grateful I made it through today"

First of all, terrible doctor. Secondly, get a different specialist. Thirdly, pushing yourself is going to break you. Find something that you can do and brings you joy. Without joy, what type of life are you living?
