Experiencing Medical Gaslighting: My Story

👋 who here has experienced medical gaslighting? i certainly have and i despise it. i don’t know what i’ve done to deserve it, and they quite frankly don’t know they’ve done it to me (or maybe they do but they’re acting like they don’t just so i shut up). long story somewhat short: i have Crohn’s Disease but i’ve not been diagnosed with it as my doctors claimed my tests came back ‘clear’. i know for a fact they weren’t and they’re using it as an excuse or a way of telling me to go away and leave them alone. i’m experiencing a lot of symptoms: cramps, headaches, nausea, constipation, usually watery stools (not quite diarrhoea - usually bad/active when at college, which is very convenient!! (/sar)), and for them to just do the simple tests and not even speak to me about it is unprofessional, in my opinion. i asked them if i could SPEAK to someone about it and they said no… so what’s the point in the practise? anyone else experienced a similar thing? ☹️
