My mom still refuses to accept my bipolar and autism diagnosis. She says that I don't act like I'm bipolar and in all her 30 years of teaching autistic kids, I don't fit the criteria. Like, I'm sorry you are in denial, but professionals did this. I didn't just decide this is how it is one day. besides, the doctor said, and I quote, "your autism is mild. it will have very little impact on your daily life but it explains some of your problems." Like. aren't you glad I have answers now?

I have the same 2 diagnoses. Bipolar i figured out on my own, but my mom told me i was autistic before i figured it out. She still doesn’t fully what i deal with tho. My bipolar is very severe and my ASD is moderate.

Ask her what she expects you to act like and watch her struggle to not ramble off a stereotype

@soxywoxy yeah it's dumb and it's like why do we have to fight when we are the ones who needed help the most

I feel you there because the teachers I had over the years didn't accept that I had autism when I was growing up and me and my parents fought school district after school district up til I graduated.

@Stitchlover23 it is ridiculous that we have to fight for people to accept a diagnosis. Isn't hard enough being neurodivergent without having to fight to just have a diagnosis accepted?
