I found something that helped to incredibly reduce my insomnia symptoms! It's called polyphasic sleep (specifically the Siesta). Basically, people have found that rather than the amount of REM sleep you get, it's the % of REM to total sleep that makes you feel rested. Polyphasic sleep (specifically the Siesta) has one 'core' or main sleep phase of about 6 hours and one 20-30 min nap 6-9 hours after you wake up. After a week or two your body begins using the nap for almost 90% REM sleep, giving you a feeling of being well rested. Three other related tips 1) Don't try to start your core any later than 2am or earlier than 4am, your body naturally starts going into 'survival' mode once you hit 2am and reduces your sleep hormones until 4am. It's hard to go to sleep. 2) Your nap shouldn't be longer than 30 mins or less than 20. Less than 20 isn't really enough for your body to want to put REM in and more than 30 will leave you tired. 3) I know naps are hard due to insomnia, but even if I just lay there for the 20 mins, it still helps. I found that it takes practice to get good at napping and now my body gets sleepy around 3pm (when I take my nap). I hope this works for you or you at least found it interesting! Thanks for reading it all.

I'd love to try this but the only problem I have is my naps have to last at least an hour to feel somewhat rested. Or else I feel worse. How do I get my body to rest less but feel better?? I get like 3 hours of sleep per night and I haven't found anything that works
