Has anyone had a positive experience going to an Urgent Care to get IV fluids for a POTS flare? My neurologist recommended I try to go bc this flare is bad but warned me that they may not know pots or have treated it with an IV before so it may take some explaining. Which is fine if it works out but from what I have heard it can be tricky being treated by those outside of your pots team because they aren’t knowledgeable on the illness. I know I won’t know until I try but I was just curious if people have had a positive experience at urgent care.

Yes! I explained I have POTS and part of my treatment is a bag (or 1.5 or 2 bags) of fluid. Sometimes I ask for Zofran as well or even a prescription. I make sure to look up the rating of the urgent care on Google and try to aim for 4.6 or higher

Hey hey. I’m here for the comments because most of the time they do an EKG in the ER & that’s it. I’m discharged, back home trying to make it through

@katehall thank you so much for sharing! I’ve been nervous to try but this flare has been kicking my butt so I think I’ll have to. Hearing that you’ve had a good experience helps me feel better.
