I’m new here. Was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis this past august. It was triggered by the Covid vaccine. I’ve never been a drinker and live a healthy lifestyle…this has been a struggle but I’m determined to beat it. Anyone with a similar story?

My absolute monocyte is so so low 68! Way down from my last blood test. Lastly I forgot to ask are you all seeing a Rheumatologist doctor?
Hi I’m new here, it’s such a relief to talk to other people going through the same thing. Can anyone tell me what showed up on your bloodwork in order for the doctor to diagnose you with Autoimmune Hepatitis? I’m in the early stages of being diagnosed. In addition I have severe vitiligo, Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism and lichen sclerosus, all autoimmune diseases. I’ve had three different doctors do a blood panel, my last bloodwork revealed my Actin smooth muscle body (IGG) was 33, the highest it’s been so far! My thyroid levels were elevated (and never have been) and my white blood counts have been plummeting for about a year so I suspect something has been going on such as my autoimmune diseases cross reacting 😔

For clarity - I want to point out that AIH (autoimmune hepatitis) is NEVER caused by alcohol use or abuse. It is an autoimmune reaction in the body of the body being confused and attacking itself, in this case the liver. Of course, if your enzymes or inflammation of liver is high, and you are unaware or aware, and continue to drink, you risk liver damage. But to center discussions about the disease around your alcohol use or preferences, only creates confusion around the disease or shame for sufferers. The Covid vaccine has very likely triggered what was for me a 16 year remission period after previous AIH episodes. It’s very frustrating. The medical journal reports emerging are to be followed.

I apparently had my as almost a kid. Diagnosed in 2008 ready having cirrhosis at that time(which I was told takes 10 years of drinking to happen). I'm 40 now and on a liver transplant list where my only hope is the auto immunity doesn't attack the new liver.

Diagnosed in 2003, age (15). Doc said I was just lucky. Have had normal liver functions for the last 4 years by making healthy lifestyle choices and meds. Unfortunately, my not so healthy past has left me managing a multitude of other issues some due to AIH and some not. Once your labs get in check and you choose to make healthy choices it's fairly easy to manage. Make poor choices and your going to have your work cut out for you. Trust me. I wish I would have understood the consequences and had a better support system sooner.

I see what you mean, makes sense. Finally putting it into remission is definitely a good feeling, hope it doesn’t take too much longer for you to get there.

Yeah it’s taken me 8 months and I’m finally close to normal labs. When I say beat it I mean put it in remission. I finally say a functional medicine doctor and that has made a huge difference for me.
I have autoimmune hepatitis as well. I was diagnosed in 2020, they think pregnancy triggered mine. I’ve also never been a drinker. I’m wondering what you mean by “beat it” since this isn’t a condition that ever goes away, although it is very manageable. Hope you are responding well to treatment.

I was diagnosed in 2018, after a poisoning (tons of drama in that story!) I know that everyone’s story is different, but it took 2 years (and a hospitalization for pancreatitis) to get my liver levels in a healthy range.
