Why is it so difficult to change the minds of family that you are not a hypochondriac? Being prepared with medical history and becoming a strong advocate for myself was the only way I got medical professionals to finally help me, yet I try to share my experience with family and they think I'm a lunatic who's faked it so much that she "convinced" a surgeon to give me an unnecessary hysterectomy (turned out my uterus and cervix were well on their way to having cancer so ya... pretty necessary procedure)

It’s hard for those who haven’t been there for all the painful moments, the tests and all the shit we deal with on a regular basis. They also can’t see it often, when we have “invisible” health issues (we are sick or in pain but we look normal). Unless someone has been through major health problems they will not be able to sympathize. Chronic pain is the worst thing I have to deal with because I look fine but feel like shit all the time. Look up The Spoon Theory if you haven’t already heard of it.

Sadly I have so many diagnoses they have seen stuff first hand and still say I'm faking to my face but big chunk of family talk is about me and my conditions so I've just started avoiding those who harass me over it once a person who's closed minded has something in their head no amount of proof will change their mind it's like asking a mountain to move out of your way it just doesn't happen you learn to move around the mountain or go through it. All I can say is if your like me and stuck with them make your own family outside of them who support believe and trust in you so when you have to deal with the ones who don't you have the support of your chosen family to give you the love you need

I got a lot of good advice about this from Richard Grannon and CrappyChildhoodFairy on YouTube. They have videos with topics on this subject and they brought me a lot of healing. 💕 I’m sorry you aren’t getting validation from your family. It’s bittersweet to know there’s so many of us with this experience. Not alone which is good, but also, sad that it’s so common that we are treated this way.
