I have all the somnias 😁. I was diagnosed with insomnia induced narcolepsy with cataplexy in my early 40s. Those episodes scare me the most. According to my sleep doc narcolepsy developed from unchecked insomnia for a lot of years. I read an article years ago about a doc who did a study & they found that its not the going to bed at the same time every night but instead waking at the same time every morning can help with some insomnia. I've tried it & it has worked its just hard to get started. Doesn't work all the time especially when it seems I've gotten it under control then an unseen/spontaneous event/factor throws a wrench in. It's a never ending cycle for me but for some it seems works to combat the issue.

I had ups and downs with sleep for sure. I will say on the medication side Trazadone has worked for me but also routine and meditation has really helped me to fall asleep overall. Oh and heat therapy too.

Yes. Thankfully mine has gotten better with time, but I’ve tried so many things I don’t know what it is that helped 😅 But I take melatonin, magnesium, and l-theanine every night. I’ll take some CBD too if it’s been a particularly rough day. I go to sleep around the same time every night and try to read in bed first, often doing a meditation and light stretching before. For the most part I’m sleeping better, but every now and then it hits out of nowhere and I’m up all night 😵‍💫 so frustrating One weird thing I think I have noticed is that if I overdo it too much and crash, my sleep is normally garbage that night. A healthy person would probably sleep great after being so exhausted, but for some reason not me. I will toss and turn and can’t relax, feel very stressed, and be in a lot of pain, unable to sleep. So I really try not to pace myself for all aspects of my health, including sleep.

@ginkgowink I totally understand the whole being busy during the day & then not being able to sleep, it makes zero sense! I take magnesium glycinate every night and it's been a god send! CBD usually helps a ton but ever once in a while it doesn't help at all, especially before my period.

Yup. Very difficult to fall asleep and stay asleep no matter how exhausted I am. Ive been taking sleeping pills for years. It helps me also sleep straight through for the first 3-5 hours. Ive had unisom, trazodone, and melatonin. My fav is trazodone but cant use while breastfeeding and my current Dr recommends melatonin instead of other meds since it helps naturally to fall asleep.

Yes. I have don’t have insomnia where I struggle to fall asleep but my insomnia is I struggle to stay asleep so I wake up 4-5 times each night.
