Heyo! Me too lol! But in all seriousness, I really think as long as you're not self medicating, and are improving after a self-diagnoses, then it isnt a bad thing at all. In fact, even if it turns out you don't have ADHD, then as long as you saw an improvement in yourself then that's all that matters. Feel free to text me anytime if you wanna talk about it though 🤗💕

I was diagnosed with ADHD ever since I was little, I would get a medical diagnosis and that way if you do have ADHD they can treat it. When I was diagnosed I was on 1 medication can't remember the name of hand but then my Dr had put me on something else for it. If you ever wanna talk I'm here I been dealing with ADHD ever since I was really little.

Medical diagnosis is often a privilege that not everyone has. And the thing a lot of medical diagnosis come from the patient already having an idea of what's going on and advocating for themselves to their doctor because like people mentioned before symptoms overlap and present differently. It took them years to diagnose me with ADHD just because women present differently. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with self diagnosis. But there is a difference in looking up a couple symptoms and diagnosing yourself and doing extensive research into not only symptoms but personal behaviors.

@MaJo exactly! The number of times I've been handed a sheet of symptoms, checked off that I experience all of them almost all of the time, and still not be able to be diagnosed because I don't have access to the right professionals is frustrating, but being able to say "I have ADHD, this is what helps with that" is much easier than listing off the numerous symptoms I have trouble keeping track of. I think it's also comforting to be able to label a cluster of symptoms, and sometimes just listing symptoms doesn't feel like it really expresses the severity to which I experience them.

knowing your symptoms can help you find others with your symptoms who can motivate you to get stuff done/find ways to deal with it, but self diagnosis really doesn't solve anything. there's always a chance you have it, but getting a diagnosis can really help you in the long term with medications and accomodations

i think as long as you do proper research, and if you'd like you can compare to someone else who has it, i don't see anything wrong with it. i was diagnosed with it since i was very small, so if you wanna chat anytime, just lmk :D

As someone mentioned earlier everyone expresses symptoms differently. Some symptoms even overlap with other mental health disorders, so it’s important to get a proper medical diagnosis. Self diagnosis also will not help if you need assistance medically in managing it

If you're using self diagnosis as a means to find ways to manage symptoms, there's not really any harm in it. Even if later on you find out you don't have ADHD, but the things you found still helped you, then they still helped, and that's all that really matters. Sometimes it's extremely difficult to get a professional diagnosis, especially for ADHD, and I don't think that should hold you back from finding ways to manage symptoms.

Self diagnosis is never a good thing, mostly because ADHD has certain symptoms and everyone expresses them differently. I would see if I could get in to a psychologist to be properly diagnosed and treated with medication.
