@myxedemaqueen I know itā€™s been a minute since this was posted, but I just saw it so I thought Iā€™d jump in. Gluten is inflammatory, so avoiding it can help some symptoms improve (not everyone has an adverse reaction to it though). Soy is also inflammatory, so my doctor said that if I was having issues then I could cut that out too. I asked my doctor about diet for Hashimotos after listening to a podcast that talked about it (Dr. Josh Redd on the Just Ingredients podcastā€¦ I think itā€™s episode 6?) and without telling her what I had learned on my own, she gave the same advice :)

I was just diagnosed in March my mother and Aunt also have it as well. Got a TPO antibody test. Didn't really expect it to come back positive but it did. Since, my mother told me to go GF. What a difference!! I may have celiac disease too but I would have to eat gluten to get tested. Terrified to do it bc I get so sick if I eat it now. But thankful bc I never would have known gluten was a problem for me.

@ellehoots Thatā€™s crazy! Iā€™ve been gluten free for years nowā€¦ Helped my stomach a ton. Wonder if thatā€™s been helping my thyroid too until now. I donā€™t want to get tested either! Donā€™t want to risk the pain. I wonder if there is an association with Hashimotoā€™s & Celiac.

@myxedemaqueen there actually is! Not just celiac disease but there is also an association to other autoimmune disorders all together. Endocrinologist said I most likely do have another autoimmune disorder

Same! I was diagnosed after presenting with Myxedema Crisis. But Iā€™ve had hypothyroidism since I was a kid.
