TW: Pet loss. Hi everyone. How do you deal with the loss of a pet having depression/anxiety. Yesterday was a very traumatic day for me. We had to put my cat down, and I don’t know how to cope with this sort of loss. Any recommendations?

I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet furbaby.🫂💗 I lost my 10 year old Chihuahua Halo on December 7th, a month after I had my daughter. It was completely unexpected and devastating. I woke up to her already gone so the sense of failing her and not getting closure is immensely painful, she was my first ever dog.😭💔 I have been having such a hard time since, I have been so depressed. Some days are better than others. Having her ashes and paw prints help a lot, they even included some of her fur.🥺😭 I also talk about her/to her, look at videos and pictures of her, and try to remind myself that I gave her a happy life full of unconditional love and happiness. She wouldn't want me to be so upset. Be gentle with yourself and take it day by day. The pain does get better, we will be reunited with our sweet fur babies one day.❤

My dog of 12 years passed away in 2020 I coped by remembering good times and photos I took of her. It got to the point it was way to quiet in my house anymore and I couldn't take it so I got a puppy in 2021 she definitely kept me busy and my mind off of things but it feels good giving a wonderful life to another dog. 🖤

@Meowjuana_420 Thank you. I do keep looking back at all of the videos and pictures I have of her, and it does help. Thank you for your response. 🤍

I had two cats from when I was 9 until the age of 27 - They lived 18 happy years before they passed and it is still occasionally painful / try to think of all the happy memories, and how much you loved them - Tney sure loved you :) I’m so so sorry for your loss ❤️

@_Georgia_ Thank you. I only had her for two short years, I can’t even imagine your pain because you had them for a long time. I do try and remember all of the good memories but I can’t help and think we should’ve so many more. Thank you for your response. 🤍

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss! One thing that helped me when I lost my 16yr old basset hound last year was having a picture of her with her collar on the frame next to my favorite chair in the house. I also rounded up all her favorite toys and her blanket n my sisters and I made a little funeral for her in my backyard to say our final goodbyes and tell her how much we loved her n can't wait to meet her on the other side of the rainbow Bridge. I hope this helps and your pain lessens soon. They are always with us even when we can't see them.

@chelsy Thank you. I do have her blanket, and her collar, so I will try that. Thank you for your response 🤍
