I haven’t been diagnosed yet, but feel I have GCA and possibly PMR . Rheumatologist says I’m too young (49) negative blood test and negative ultrasound (was in prednisone at time) rheumatologist wants me off prednisone so she can get bland done . I’m nervous it is GCA and I could loose my sight . Was on prednisone for 12 days and didn’t feel any better .

I wonder why the doctors are so quick to make 50 that base age mark. We were all under 50 at diagnosis.

I don’t know . I guess because it says it rarely happens under 50, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t . Doctors imho are lazy

Can everyone share how they were diagnosed?

my mom has PMR. She and I were seeing the same Dr in a small town so he knew his patients and their families well. I had commented that I was having some of the same symptoms that’s my mom had so he did the testing to make the diagnosis.

bloodwork. Doctors don’t normally believe my symptoms until I bug them enough. 2 years later I have a diagnosis. Beats the 4 years it took to get them to believe my shoulder was in as much pain. I was then diagnosed with shoulder impingement syndrome..
