Anyone with a feeding tube help me find out the benefits and risks with it? I read that you can aspirate and die from feeding tubes.

      A G or gastric tube goes to your stomach. I use it for draining and venting. A J goes into your small intestines into your jejenum. That's where I get fed. My type of tube goes into one stoma but has two different extensions into me. One Into my stomach and one Into my jejenum.

      I have a GJ feeding tube. The biggest aspiration risk is more with G-tube than J if you feed through them. I'm J tube fed though. It helps if you sleep at a slight incline but with a J it's not as important. My feeding tube has helped me so much and given me my life back. Much love.

      I have a peg-j tube and it's given me my life back and I would have died without it

          @xajhx23 so the peg bit goes into my stomach, the j extention goes into my jejunum which is the second part of my small intestines. Peg means it's placed by endoscopy. Peg or g tubes go to your stomach and can be used to feed or for venting (getting rid of air), or draining (getting rid of liquid). J tubes either can be gj or Pegj, or nj, j goes straight into your jejunum (they are likely to avoid this if you are hypermobile as the risks it carries are higher), gj or Pegj go into your stomach and then have a j extention. NG stands for nasal gastric, nj stands for nasal jejunum. Normally they will try a nasal tube first to check it works before surgery
