Does anyone else with hypermobility have limbs that spontaneously collapse?

I have drop wrist and drop foot. But I'm not sure if that qualifies

My knees, right ankle, right hip all do this. My shoulders also like to give out on me without warning. My fingers do too sometimes.

My knees do this! I know exactly what you are talking about. I will just be standing and I’ll feel my knees just to give up and collapse. I’m thinking that maybe because our joints are loose that they can’t always hold up the weight.

I think mine might be muscle weakness related but I experience something similar. (I’m getting a rheum consult about it soon) Like when I go from sitting to standing or am walking sometimes my legs can “give out” on me.

@ARiverG I wonder what mine is bc I tested negative for practically everything at this point n my primary isn’t doing anything else :/ I think he may be suspecting I’m a hypochondriac at this point

Sound like joint rolling it's most common in the ankle, but it can happen in other joints too. It's where your joint dislocates then snaps back into place quickly. It can cause sprains, but doesn't always. When I just collapse suddenly it's usually from this.

every day my knees and elbows come up with new ways to betray me. fell over and tried to get in my wheelchair? my elbows give out and I slam my nose into the kitchen floor. tried to stand up like a normal person? nope, knees aren't in the right spot and they put me right back in my chair. oh, I was gonna get back in bed? what if every joint in my load-bearing arm gave out all at once? good luck getting back in bed when you can't move 😈 it's a constant battle to stay mostly upright

@wise Is it pain that causes them to collapse or do they collapse and then cause pain? I hope you’re staying strong despite all that happening!

@Akashiva they just collapse! it doesn't really register as pain anymore, it's mostly just an annoyance, but I've been dealing with this my entire life so that makes sense

What do you mean collapse? I know sometimes my legs can't hold me because of the pain. But I'm not sure what you mean by collapse

@NonbinarySlytherin Simply stop functioning effectively and collapsing. For example my leg will spontaneously collapse sometimes, although I’m not sure why. My doc hasn’t come up with any ideas either. I’m just curious if it would be related to hypermobility.
