any recommendations on how to bypass the fear of injury while trying to get better with movement? i just keep seeing my x rays in my head, my spine just sitting on top each itself with no proper discs between them... i feel more fragile than ever and even thinking of moving makes me want to have a panic attack. help? :(

@Pfeiffer that's a great alternative!! i've been swimming lately but some days even that seems too "extreme" 😅

I’m having this same fear right now. Meditation helps the anxiety portion. But I am about to try Tai Chi to help with movement and exercise. It’s suppose to be great for people with joint issues.

In Dialectical Behavior Therapy, one of the things they teach you is how to sit with discomfort. For you it would look like this: walking and/or extremely low movement while having the thought "I can get injured" sit in your head. Doing this exercise in a safe space with comfortable music and regulated breathing will help you accept the fact that you can get injured again. It's not a bad thing or a good thing, it's just a fact of your life. Accepting this now will make it easier when another injury comes in the future. Remember to be very gentle with yourself mentally. You are allowed to be afraid of injury, and you are allowed to take up space to heal. Good luck on your recovery and the maintenance of your health ❤️

@Quari By the way, when I first learned of this method it pissed me off greatly, but I have found it comes in handy.

@Quari this is great advice. i don't do great with that toxic positivity, so i like the- not good or bad, just is. i will practice sitting with those scary thoughts. thank you. 🖤
