Hi everyone, I am new here, but I would like to share my experience. I had to undergo two surgeries within two weeks. LIS (Lateral Internal Sphincterotomy) for anal fissure and Anal Fistulotomy for an abscess related to my first surgery. This is my 2nd-day post-op. I would like to know how long it takes to get better and if anybody has had a similar experience. I follow the recommended instructions, such as taking a Sitz bath daily, avoiding constipation, and drinking plenty of water; however, I am concerned about bowel movements. Some people say that the pay is unbearable. Other than the meds, are there any other treatments that might help? Any suggestions or comments are appreciated. Best regards!

I also had two surgeries. I suffered so much because I had no idea how to eat. I’d lost 75lbs due to the traumatic experience. What worked for me was not to eat lots of fiber, that can get you more constipated. You need to eat insoluble and soluble. Yes drink lots of water and relax your stomach when you are about to have a bowel. I don’t take medications because they have constipation as a side effect. I use a cream called Calmoseptine and it helped me so much. I also take magnesium every night. Hope you feel better soon.
Hi if you’re able to ask your doctor and take milk of magnesia it helps with stools. Also just stick to what the doctor told you, you will be okay. It may take time, don’t give up
@IbsQween Yeah, I am taking stool softener and lots of fiber. I hope I can heal soon, and this is a nightmare. Thank you for your advice.

@Nilson you’re on the path to healing! You got this! Try playing zen music while using the bathroom, deep breathing so you’re not tense!
