i made plans with a great friend of mine who just came back from a 2 month trip so i couldn’t wait to see her this whole time but perfectly enough (sarcasm) i do not feel like seeing anybody today even tho we’ve been planning today for so long. she seemed so excited and i don’t wanna let her down but i really don’t feel like socializing especially because i’ll have to fake a good mood and it would be so draining. i already cancelled on her plenty in the past for this reason and i hate to do it again for the first time we see each other after a while… what should i do?

i also think you should go; it’s the day of and i usually feel worse when i feel like i’ve let people down by not going. i also usually end up having a decent time but in the worst case, you’ll still feel proud of yourself at the end of the day for pushing through and doing something

I would go but also let her know that you aren't doing the greatest mentally. You said she is a great friend so she should understand. Maybe just try and tweak your plans to help you out. Try not to do something too crowded. Maybe like lunch at a park just to catch up.

You should probably cancel mental health comes first and you probably won’t enjoy being out any way with the mood you’re in so what’s the point

I would just go. I’m normally like that with my friends too where I don’t feel like doing anything but it usually turns out to be a good time
