Anxiety and Doctor Visits: Does Waiting Make You Sick?

I waited nearly a year to see an Endocrinologist (bad insurance at the time). Once I finally got to see the Dr, everything was fine until she reviewed my vitals and saw my heart rate was 130+ & advised me to get to the ER. She thought I was going to have a heart attack! Long story short: Heart’s fine, thankfully. Just anxiety presenting in a different way. Try — TRY — to relax. Maybe bring a word search, something puzzle-y or Sudoku — anything that will make you focus on something else. Remember, you’ve survived so far. Don’t be afraid if it doesn’t work out. You deserve to be validated and treated well. If any Dr gives you pause or makes you upset…NEXT!! Put yourself first. You got this!
