Recently diagnosed with TGN and doctor put me on carbamazepine but since then I have had painful lymph node swelling and my liver enzymes have spiked. My neurologist insists it’s not related to the medication, but I haven’t changed anything else and all tests for infections and inflammation have come back negative. Anyone else have issues with carbmazepine? What medication works for you?

@str8outtacollagen I suppose it depends what caused it, and where you are from and there usual responses. Mine was from Ramsey hunt syndrome which is a complication of shingles and I'm from the UK. But it was actually a physio therpastic helping me with facial paralysis that noted the neuralgia. Before then I was told there's nothing wrong or offered countless anti biotics that did nothing. I guess what I am trying to say is as a GP it's relatively unknown what to do and if you haven't been already, you should probably be referred to a specialist. Got to keep the hope 🙏

Firstly I was tried on pregablin. It was awful. I was walking around like a zombie. Felt like I was not in this world. Fell asleep at the wheel but luckily had someone with me. Didn't even help the pain. The first Dr thought I couldn't have amytripteline as I take anti depressants but 2nd Dr said I can on the dose. I have now been on 20mg amytripteline for over a year and apart from occasional flare up the pain is managed. Hoping you find what works for you🙏I know how tough it can be.
