I recently found out I have Rheumatoid arthritis antibodies and my vitamin D was low and I also tested positive for something called SSA. But I’m so scared to take “METHOTREXATE 2.5mg” because of the side effects. Can any of you please lmk your symptoms/ side effects with that med when you first took it ? Thank you :)

@Lifesaver350 I am new on forum. What drugs are you taking for OA? Fibromyalgia? I don't have RA yet but who knows?

I have severe RA and was also very low on my vitamin D. I started taking 6,000 IU of the vitamin D a day and my numbers are 👌🏼 and my doctor also recommended Folic Acid and I take biotin to get my hair strong. I do get really tired in the days I take methotrexate but I just listen to my body and take it easy in any way I can. My best advice in this regards is to be gentle with yourself and if you need to take it slow for a day, it’s okay. Your body is healing/ being treated from/ for a lot of internal distress. Hope this helped a little bit!

Since the methotrexate alone wasn't relieving my pain entirely they put me on a low dose of prednisone along with it. Which helps very much but it also wipes out your immune system so I got sick 4 days ago. None I know is sick so musta just picked it up somewhere. So that's a downside. Spent mother's day home alone sick.

Methotrexate was the first drug prescribed to me, when I developed RA as a child. I had no side effects. As someone who has been med free and medicated, life is barely manageable during a flare. Not taking medication, does more physical and emotional harm than any prescribed drug.

I’ve been on methotrexate since getting COVID in April 2020 which led to pericarditis and now RA. I really haven’t had any problems with methotrexate. Although I was taking 2.5 mg 8 tablets once a week but they just reduced it to 7 pills because my blood work came back a little off on my kidneys

@ lesss I was about 58 when diagnosed with the osteoarthritis in my hip. But the psoriatic arthritis was this year, so 60. The actual psoriasis I've had for 30 years. I've never really been diagnosed with rheumatoid, they said I didn't have the blood markers for that. Then said well some people still have it without the blood markers. When he found out about the psoriasis he then changed diagnosis to psoriatic arthritis. Which I'm sure that is correct considering I fit the symptoms for it much more so that rheumatoid.

I really didn't have any problems taking it, however, everyone is different. Express your concerns with your doctor and or your pharmacist.

Morning from NJ 😎✌️🇺🇸 I take Plaquenil 200mg one in the morning and one at night before bed. The Methotrexate is 2.5 MG and I take 8 pills once a week. I haven't had any side effects. I've had fibromyalgia for over 10 yrs. The RA & Osteoarthritis I've had further past 5 yrs. As you all know, there are good days and bad days. 😥

I have a slight headache, plus when they increased my dose from 6 to 8. I was slightly upset stomach but not bad at all.

@sugmag thank you ❤️ This is all new to me I’m so scared it’s so hard.. I try to be strong for my daughter but I just feel like I was slapped in the face 😥 I thought I was healthy but no after my pregnancy all this pain started getting worse. Btw how long have you been taking that med and how old were you when you found out u had RA ?

@Lesss I've been taking it for almost 3 months is all. Pain is considerable less though. Only the headache bothers me as far as side effects go. It's just that annoying type that is just always there.
