I find myself unconsciously holding my breath, tensing my muscles, squinting, and skin-picking/nail-biting all at once all the time. It’s like I go into this trance and even when I snap myself out of it and make myself relax, I’m right back to it within minutes. Anyone have any tricks to combatting this and staying out of this state of tension?

i do this too, i try to always carry figets or tools for replacement behaviors!
personally, I've found that body-mindfulness mediations can sometimes help with things like this. if it's subconscious then being more aware of your body might help
I also do this! Its horrible isn't it. I'm not sure how to stop it either. I could imagine diazepam would help with the clenching/tensing but i don't know how to stop skin picking either I have a bad habit of it myself :(. I'm sorry I couldn't give more advice but I understand what you must be feeling right now and it's crap isn't it. Take care x
@lyddy it helps just to know I’m not alone! 😊 I’d love to try some kind of anxiety medication but it seems like they all have sedative side effects, and I also deal with chronic fatigue 🙃 always so hard to find solutions in medications when you’ve got all sorts of opposing symptoms where treating one makes the other worse! Thank you for the reply, I wish you the best in finding a solution to this as well!
