Hi, I’m new to this app. I’ve suspected pots for a while now. I’m finally being referred to a cardiologist. I passed out Boxing Day and ever since then my resting heart rate has been 120. Has this happened to anyone else? It’s the first time it’s happened to me. I’ve passed out before but not the high resting heart rate. It’s also majorly affecting my mental health.

@Tals I did the tilt table test as well as a 48 hour heart monitor, I think the tilt table test is the most common for diagnosing POTS but you may have to ask for that test. The results of the heart monitor took a bit longer for the results to come back I think a week or so but my doctor already had talked to me about POTS, long Covid and dysautonomia based on my symptoms. The good news is although the symptoms are scary, the main danger is not related to the heart but rather the risk of fainting and getting injured that way however I usually feel it coming on and am able to sit or lie down. My cardiologist said I’m fine and don’t need meds and just need to eat healthy and drink water bc I’m young and underweight which he was a jerk!! But I guess there are people that live with it without medication and I’m usually able to function pretty well I have good and bad weeks typically which does make it hard to work though. I would recommend making a journal or chart of your symptoms with dates and times as well!! ❤️

Hi there, I was diagnosed with POTS about two years ago after fainting, my cardiologist said it was from a Covid infection. I have a high resting heart rate ever since, but it’s not very often that it is above 120 while laying down. Usually if I lie down or put my legs up and put ice packs on my wrists or back of neck I can get my heart rate down. I am not on meds although they did say beta blockers are an option that helps people. I hope they help you! ❤️ increasing fluids and salt as well as compression socks are usually my go to non-med options and I am also on an anti inflammatory Mediterranean diet which seems to have helped me quite a bit but everyone is different! I usually have high anxiety with my symptoms (especially presyncope as it can be scary) so I have to rest and relax a whole lot more than I used to as well. Good luck 💕 sending love!

@Zoey_Val hi, thank you so much for sharing your story. It means a lot!! May I ask what tests the cardiologist did and how long it took for your results? Yeah it’s my first time that laying down my heart rate has been so high. Normally it’s fine. ❤️ ❤️

@JustRachelle Yeah It is. First time it’s ever happened to me but hadn’t gone away so the doctors have started me on propranolol and have referred me to the cardiologist today

@Tals usually with pots your heart rate is normal when laying down.. however there are other things that are similar to pots that will cause your heart rate to be high laying down. Hopefully they figure everything out soon. ❤️
