Does anyone else’s PTSD cause them more severe memory loss and distractibility? I also have ADHD and it feels like it’s dialed to 100 after the event that caused the PTSD. I am in the process of going to therapy for it but in between sessions I feel like I need to do something, anything to help me be less forgetful daily.

Yup! I process things out loud so I can hear it and maybe remember it better. Have grace with yourself when you do forget, it’s not your fault

Absolutely, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I already have memory problems due to depressive disorder and dissociation, and ptsd has made them 10x worse

I have c-ptsd and TBI. It effects my memory and ability to focus greatly.

yes! my memory loss includes most all of my childhood, but isnt limited to that with day to day life being forgotten when the day's over

Yes I've been there I usually ask my close friends to remind me what we were talking about, and my aunt recommended journaling to remember the day.

I can barely remember my childhood (verbally abusive dad) and still have issues remembering anything these days, especially in a situation with authoritative people. I also will definitely completely zone out into a fog of imaging what he could yell at me about, especially when I’m stressed

Me too. Once I’ve dissociated, I can’t focus to save my life. And then I feel guilty and worry about how others are perceiving me, which just makes my anxiety skyrocket 😅
