So I take Mirtazapine 45mg at bedtime to help with my insomnia but also it's my main med for depression as well it helps my anxiety. But because my anxiety got really bad since December, I was put on Buspirone and slowly upped it until I am now on 15mg 4 times a day. I still get anxiety that can be feelings of uneasiness to full blown anxiety where I get the physical symptoms or just feel super weird all over the "rush" I call it. Does anyone else take these meds and if so, do you still struggle with anxiety? The issue is there isn't anything else I could really take alongside these meds unless I stopped my mirtazapine, because there is already a high risk for serotonin syndrome. What helps you? I will be working on coping skills more in therapy starting next week to do exposures so hopefully I'll get back to a point of not having anticipatory anxiety or having physical symptoms like I do now.

I have had similar side effects from my buspar, not necessarily anxiety but definitely a head rush feeling and sometimes dizziness. It's been a year and symptoms still persist but I have no anxiety so I deal. Have you asked your doctor about hydroxyzine? I don't think that increases risk for seritonin syndrome

I don't mean I have side effects from my buspirone. I still get anxiety despite taking it 4 times a day. And I've taken hydroxyzine in the past for anxiety and it didn't help much. I was taking l-theanine instead because it's natural and worked way better and faster. But then it stopped working for me for the level of anxiety I was having.

you need to give Hydroxezine another chance WITH the buspar. Hydroxezine is a situational med more than anything. You take it when you HAVE a panic attack. The Buspar prevents as much as it can, the Hydroxezine is there in case it doesn’t work.

I used to take Zoloft and I had a terrible experience with it. I was hallucinating myself self-harming in many different ways and I became so terrified that I didn't trust myself anymore. I was on 50mg, and I quit all medications after that incident. Honestly I'm terrified if taking any sort of medication even cold medications and Tylenol (ik it sounds stupid) because I'm afraid that a similar incident will occur.

oh no I totally get it! I feel the same about meds. Because I've had so many negative side effects from meds I hate taking anything new. Even being put on the buspirone I was afraid it would make my anxiety worse vs better. But I've taken a mood stabilizer last year which caused me to have a high heart rate all the time in the 90s to 130s so I quit taking that cuz it was freaking me out. And then I just stopped taking an acid reducing med because it was giving me several bad side effects and it wasn't helping me have less heartburn so I quit it. I just get nervous to try new things because they don't always work and once I'm doing alright and get a new med something goes wrong and messes up the good thing I had going!

it won’t. Some Antidepressants react the oposite way to how they are supposed to. You just needed to be on a different TYPE of antidepressant,

I take hydroxyzine for my anxiety and I like it. I mean it's not Xanax or valium but I think it works

15mg 4 times?! That’s a HIGH dose! It’s only supposed to be ONCE OR TWICE A DAY! Not 4 times! You need to talk to a psychiatrist about that! Also it’s very likely you have something called Panic Disorder. The buspirone may help with the anxiety but from what you describe it isn’t stopping the panic attacks which makes sense since that isn’t it’s job. You should try something more like Hydroxyzine. Or do both like I am.

you can take 15mg 4 times a day. The daily dose you can take but not exceed is 60mg daily. So it's perfectly safe and normal to be on this dosage.

also I don't have panic attacks. So I don't have a panic disorder. I HAVE had panic attacks months ago before I upped my buspirone dosage but I just get anxiety now and rarely an anxiety attack. However I get consistent anxiety
