Who else feels paranoid that their phones are listening to you? Someone please break down the technology behind it.

I don’t know the tech behind it, but what helps me when I get anxious about it is thinking about who would actually be listening and what it would tell them. Answer: no one is listening, if anything it’s just being recorded for potential future recovery, and as for what it would tell them: also nothing, since info about my personal life isn’t going to help any government or corporation that might have access to it. So even if my phone is listening, it doesn’t mean anything since it will never have a reason to be retrieved and listened to. Maybe an algorithm will get some advertising info but who is that really hurting? Anyway that’s my thought process, maybe it’ll help

I'm skeptical about them listening to us, like I think if they are it would be for our benefit rather than anything else. Like there are things that connect what you search to apps, for example Facebook has a setting that connects to your search history to find ads better suited for you. (I didn't know this until I was going through settings looking for something else at the time.) Anyways, you can always turn that setting off. But some apps are connected regardless and share info. I've never personally experienced me talking about something out loud and seeing it on my phone, but texting on the other hand it does register. So like it's just things being connected through social media, email, phone number etc. I hope any of that made sense to you.

yeah i think about the same thing and i’m sure our phones listen to us which is why i will get a ad for something i was talking about a couple minutes ago. i die think our phone listen for key words which is why maybe if ur talking about a baby you will see ads about diapers and toys. i just think people like apple have the microphones on always
