I'm curious and I also have an oc with DID and I want to make sure I'm displaying the issue correctly
If an alter develops when the host is mute(due to brain injuries or concussions), would the alter be permanently mute or would they heal with the rest of the body?
Alters can be mute for many reasons but trauma specific to a time some one in the body was mute or everyone was could definitely be a reason! Our host was mute for roughly 2 years at some point we split an alter who holds memories for a specific time and they are mute, our system is also autistic though so we go threw periods of selective mutism basically the brain is complicated but I hope this helps a little! - blurry
Systems are a little weird when it comes to things like that. It's possible that an alter formed while the host is mute could be permanently mute, heal with the host, or not even be mute at all (at least in headspace or if the muteness comes from something mental). It honestly depends on the system and how it functions
