I woke up in so much pain this morning. I haven’t been able to get out of bed and I missed school today. I get a text from my classmate saying that my teacher called me out saying that they are mad I missed class and that they will not be reexplaining the project I’m missing. My teacher knows about my condition and I always email them when I’m absent. This has happened before, it hurt and I’m not really sure what to do

Lack of empathy makes everything more difficult. I used to explain it to everyone. Don't let your illness define you or cause you more pain. No one has walked in your shoes like you have. Self-care is important. I'm 60 and I was a people pleaser and overachiever for 40 years- no more!! You do you boo.👏🎉

Take this up with someone higher than that teacher. That is quite wrong of them. Chronic illness shouldn't be shunned. My manager at work is very understanding. Thankfully my pain levels stay relatively low as the days get warmer. Sending much love

This has happened to me a lot this year. I’m always out of school if my pain is extremely bad and I can’t get out of bed. I would recommend if your school has a 504 program or even a home bound program it might be really beneficial for you. I’m in a 504 program and it has helped me out tremendously. I can always go to their office and take a nap when I need too. I can also go in there to do school work if I’m not in the best place when I’m at school and they give me passes for when I’m late to class. I’m really considering being home bound because I really do think it would be a better option for me since I’m still struggling at school but I’m not ready to leave my friends or my sport yet. Also how MissAl said, you should report the teacher to someone above her since that was just plain wrong. No one knows how we feel and the fact that there are people like her especially a teacher that do this to students and she knows what’s been going on it horrible. Good for you for letting her know when your not going to be there so you did your part but since she’s still not understanding then it’s time to take another step. Message me anytime 💕

I would take that up with someone in the school office above the teacher. This is not an appropriate way to treat students, especially if you do keep in contact and they’re aware you have issues. You’re already doing better than I did, I ghosted school. Not the best decision but at the time I couldn’t cope. I’d understand that comment in my situation, not yours. Speak to someone higher up. Who knows who else this is hurting. Bad teachers break my heart. I’m also not above sending an email to the teacher myself. But I’d do that after reaching a higher up to cover yourself. Ask them if you should call out the teacher personally.
