How to Stop Taking Metformin for PCOS?

How do you get off metformin?? I need advice on how to get off of my metformin. I have been on it for 6 years and I’m beyond sick of it. I take ER metformin- I’m prescribed 1500mg but can only handle 750mg. It causes me to have daily nausea and diarrhea that has a large impact of my quality of life. How do you manage your pcos without it?

Chronic Nausea and Vomiting

Diarrhea

Polycystic Ovary (PCOS)

I just stopped taking it and threw away the pills. It did more harm than good for me. I'm in the process of learning to manage my weight without it

Talk to your doctor about how to get off and what alternatives there are. Metformin is mainly for diabetes so if you don't have diabetes I don't see why you shouldn't be able to. I personally take birth control and spironolactone to manage my symptoms. Best of luck 💕
