Sometimes the hardest part is accepting that something good actually happened. Depression doesn't go away, not naturally. What works for me is celebrating small victories. Celebrate your ability to get out of bed. Celebrate the fact that you enjoy listening to music. If you celebrate these small things, it will help you get accustomed to what positivity feels like. This will make you more sensitive to positive things, so that you'll know when something is actually good rather than a fluke

3 years ago I spent everyday waiting in bed with the curtains drawn for work Now I'm able to get up for yogurt before coming back to bed and waiting for my wife to wake up before work Life is still a struggle but at least it's different
I may still be depressed but almost a year ago I was insane
With the right combination of treatment, I do, personally, believe that it is possible to get some relief and benefit. Iāve personally seen a great difference after trialing a LOT of different antidepressants which werenāt very effective until I finally found one that helped some. And then they combined it with a mood stabilizer typically used for bipolar which ended up being hugely beneficial. Theyāre also considering Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy on me since I have pretty resistant MDD and OCD and other comorbid conditions. But I do want to tell you that, yes, there is hope that it does get better. It takes time and effort and it isnāt easy to say the least. For me, itās taken 7 years of medication trials but itās definitely (finally) worth it! Iām finally able to be a functional human being that isnāt so bogged down by all my heavy emotions and depression. It does get better, trust me. Youāve got this! Keep your head up and keep putting one foot in front of the other! ā¤ļø
I wish I knew this.
