I've been really struggling with my health lately and I just feel like doctors aren't listening. Everytime I stand I feel like I'm going to blackout. I just had to quit my job after a week because every shift I would have a seizure (unknown cause of why I'm having them). I made an appointment to talk to my doctor about testing for POTS or maybe even Ehlers Danlos (I'm very hypermobile but my joints constantly hurt). Does anyone have any tips of how to advocate for yourself? I've tried but every time I just feel like I'm being hostile or stupid because I'm not the doctor.

I try to be as professional as I can and kindly but firmly state that I want to be tested for this or I would like a referral for this type of specialist. Let them know you're unable to work right now because of your health. No doctor should take that lightly and get to the root of the problem albeit whether they figure out your diagnosis or they assign a specialist to assist you in your diagnosis
