I got my first ever cane today. I already used it going up the stairs and it felt 100 times easier than ever before. I am super nervous of using it in public and people I’m close to seeing me use it for the first time. But in a way I think it’ll be good for making others more aware of me struggling without having to actually say anything. Hopefully this is a new step for getting around without constant pain getting in the way

Congrats! I'm happy to see it's helping you! I got my first cane about a month ago (I'm 28) and it's helped tremendously. You're right in that it helps others see that you're struggling, as these disabilities can be practically invisible to others sometimes. Hope you continue seeing the benefits! 😊

Congrats, I know getting mine was life changing. Honestly, the adjustment has been easier than I thought. I had a couple people ask about it when they saw me use it for the first time, but they were all polite. Honestly I barely get a second glance from anyone when I use it. My fear of how people would react was a lot worse than what actually happened. Hopefully it's the same for you

I've been using a crutch since the age of 20, if it helps you just use it! It doesn't matter what others think! A lion doesn't concern it's self with the opinion of the sheep ❤

Canes are also a good item for self defense! My parents collected various cane, used them to make a fashion statement!👍
