Do you guys ever feel upset or offput when people use the phrase PTSD so casually in everyday life? Not enough to say anything- but it’s just frustrating sometimes when people are talking about minuscule things without knowing how bad it is?

So ironically i used to use that as a joke in normal conversation, and recently i got diagnosed with PTSD and was told i have had it for years. I always knew i used humor as a coping mechanism in some way, esp dark humor but i never thought twice about how it would affect others. I’d kinda just say it in conversation and hope no one would overthink it and suspect i had it but now i’m like … wow i shouldn’t say it because its insensitive. So its tricky. I’ve stopped saying it, but i definitely didn’t used to out of rudeness, just coping mechanism i guess
