My Diagnosis Journey: How Long Did It Take?

I wasn't diagnosed until I was 29. I didn't even know there was something wrong with me, I thought that's what everyone was like because I literally can't remember not having bipolar symptoms. It was a huge relief when I was diagnosed, I felt validated and empowered to take control of a life I didn't even notice was out of control.

I wasn't diagnosed until I was 26

I was diagnosed at 19 after about 4 years of symptoms. It took awhile for me too.

I also found out and was properly diagnosed because I was prescribed an antidepressant that triggered a manic episode

I had my first manic episode in 2018 but wasn’t diagnosed until March of this year. Since then, it’s been great to work through years of living with it.

I started showing symptoms when I was about 9 and was told it was ADD. Found out in February that I was misdiagnosed, 13 years later.

I was diagnosed pretty young after multiple attempts and being hospitalized many times

I was 12 years old. My best friend committed suicide and I started seeing a doctor after that and was diagnosed. They called it manic depression then though

I didn’t even realize I had it when I was told I had it. At first it was major depression, then my psychiatrist said it was misdiagnosed so it’s bipolar.

I was 15 when symptoms first started and I was diagnosed with biopolar for the first time on my 3rd inpatient stay when I was 20.

It took my around 2 years to get diagnosed after my symptom onset but only 6 months after I started to see a psychiatrist.
