Dealing with a Compulsive Talker in My Life

Does anyone else have a compulsive talker in their life that absolutely drains them of what little mental energy they have? I love my mother to pieces, but there are many times where she will not. stop. talking. She flings random bits of important information at me verbally mid-rant and expects me to remember them days later. That or she repeats the same irrelevant thing over and over. I've tried explaining so many times that I can only process so much at once or that things need to be written down or that my brain will just check out if its non-essential for me to pay attention. I have so little and all I want is silence.
