People with ADHD, have you found a morning routine that works for you? What does it look like? I set an alarm to take my meds ~45mins before I want to get up, and another for the time I want to get out of bed. Then I go down and grab my breakfast smoothie and do the washing up before getting ready for work (skincare, makeup, clothes, hair). If I'm WFH I try and read for a bit instead of doing my makeup if I have time. It doesn't always work and I'm still often late but I am not a morning person, and without meds a 'routine' probably wouldn't be possible for me at all. At the weekend I try and take a meds break and let executive dysfunction take me in all its glory lol. Drop yours below, it might help someone! š

So my morning routine is a bit crazy but it works. I know no matter what I have to eat before I take my meds otherwise I am jittery as anything. I get up at 7am, get myself ready, wake my son up and get him dressed and fed. Then we head to nursery (I work in his nursery so it really eases my morning) and I take my meds when we give the kids morning snack (the adults always have some aswell because our chef is amazing). I find the days I am not working a lot harder UNLESS I have something planned for that morning. So as weird as it is to say, give yourself a strict time limit no matter what day it is. Have something arranged or make sure you have a plan to leave the house before a certain time. Hope that helps xx
I am ALLLLL over the place. I rarely brush my teeth (chew lots of gum, and my dentist says my teeth are great LOLLL), only remember to feed my pets, and am usually late 1-2 minutes everywhere I go, if Iām lucky. I donāt have object permanence or realize when time has passed, so I have a million alarms set before work. With meds, I remember to eat at least, but when at home, I hardly remember hygiene. I shower once a week haha

When I have to wake up to pee (itās always before my alarm for some reason) Iāll wash my face, brush teeth and hair, and put on deodorant. Depending on how much more time before my alarm goes off Iāll either go back to bed or read a book. Then Iāll make breakfast and take meds. On my way to get dressed I walk through the bathroom which usually distracts me and Iāll actually do my hair and makeup. Then Iāll get dressed and if I have time before my next alarm goes off Iāll read some more. Second alarm is waking the toddler, and the chaos plays out from there.
