I’m lost. How do I convince my partner that going to the hospital is what will be best with me? They keep trying to get me to do “grounding techniques or DBT things you learned in therapy” and that “if you want a break from reality you can do it at home under my supervision.” What can I say or do to tell them that going to the hospital is what I need without feeling guilty about it? I keep slipping in and out of reality and have chunks of my memory missing today. I just don’t know what to do. Any advice/ help greatly appreciated.

I understand. Tell him maybe being with others struggling will help you. Tell him with constant supervision from doctors means getting your meds fixed sooner. Tell him it will build your confidence.

You shouldnt EVER feel guilty about getting the help you need. Please do what is best for you, they will understand once they see how much better you feel. The first step is always the hardest.

ive been in this situation quite a few times, only once was my partner supportive. i find it so scary to be away from my partner with minimal communication, so i’ll put it off until i have absolutely no choice but to go, and i cannot recommend that scenario less. it’s nice that your partner wants to help but you should explain that breaks from reality and missing memory is very very scary and you need to go to a place where you are infallibly safe and supervised. explain that they cannot watch you at all times, and they also cannot adjust your medication, which is the main focus of being in the hospital! it’s only for a short time and that way they can watch you and adjust your meds immediately as needed. explain that going and getting yourself right means getting back to them soon and being in much better shape. i don’t know your relationship, but please prioritize yourself in this situation and know that you do not need their permission to keep yourself safe
