Wanted to expound further; our brains cause us to dissociate as a coping mechanism for many things. We just have to give our brain time to realize that we’re safe, and it doesn’t have to jump in to protect us anymore. Recommend lots of self care, grounding exercises, and patience.

I’ve been constantly dissociated for almost a decade. I’ve recently made tons of progress by letting go and understanding that while it may be uncomfortable, it’s out of my control and that I need to allow my body to heal at its own pace. Forcing progress or attempting to seize control when I have none causes my flares to worsen. In surrendering control I’ve never had and reminding myself that it’s okay to take my time healing, and having trust in my mind and body to heal on its own has allowed me to progress, especially when I focus on things that are in my control and taking that excess weight off of my mind.
