Hi everyone, so I’ve been going through many tests to try and diagnose my stomach pain, nausea/vomiting, and loose stools. My colonoscopy/endoscopy results showed I had gastritis but my doctor has me continuing with many other tests to rule out other stuff. My question is how debilitating is gastritis for you all? Because my pain is extremely debilitating and I’m just wondering if it could be just gastritis or another disorder also. Also does gastritis cause higher liver enzymes because mine were elevated?

@shoe for real! I have been suffering from stomach pains and vomiting my whole life and it was always dismissed as my anxiety. It only just got very serious to the point of debilitation, but if people had listened to me originally we probably wouldn’t be here.

This can so debilitating! Like I've had duodenitis for years but didn't get diagnosed til recently. The amount of pain you go threw is insane. Also when you go to the doctors they can blow it off and not believe you when you say your in so much pain!

Gastritis does not cause elevated liver enzymes.. or FLD. I have chronic gastritis and I had blood work done recently and everything was normal. So your elevated liver enzymes it’s probably due to another underlying issue.

My gastritis flare were absolutely debilitating. I missed so much school I couldn’t keep food down and I got to an extremely unhealthy weight because of it. A big thing that helped me was my diet. I did an elimination diet and I’m now gluten and dairy free which helps so much. Eventually I did have to have my gallbladder removed and was diagnosed with Crohn’s but even with that I still follow that diet religiously.

@Smurfy thank you so much for your reply. You hit everything my doctors think I could have! I have tried many different diets but all foods seem to give me pain/nausea. I currently have IBS and have a genetic history of IBD, so I am doing a lot of tests to see if it’s really IBS or if it’s IBD instead. I just got more liver enzyme labs done today and my doctor thinks that it doesn’t have anything to do with my liver but with my gallbladder instead. Hopefully I figure this out soon!

My gastritis makes me very nauseous often, although since I’ve been taking antacid medication it’s gotten better!

This sounds exactly like me right now except I haven't been vomiting. My pain from cramps are not really debilitating but the pain is uncomfortable, I have diarrhea, slight nausea, and loss of appetite. I have barely eaten in the last couple of days, I feel tired, depressed, anxious and I'm going to the bathroom a lot. I also had elevated liver enzymes and showed I have FLD. I see a gastroenterologist May 25th, but that is just so far away from now I don't know how I will get through it. I am so upset and so terrified I have colon cancer. I was told it is gastritis and a bacterial infection and have been taking antibiotics since yesterday. I feel that I have improved since though.
