Wow, you really picked the perfect person to address this question. Eleven months ago, I moved back to the states after living in Kenya, Africa for ten years. I’m not going to lie. For me, the transition has been unbaringly grueling at its worst and somewhat tolerable at its best. I’m a recovering addict and am heavily involved with NA, and that helps tremendously. I have a sponsor with whom I can say and talk about absolutely anything, and I do. My suggestion to you is to do exactly what you’re doing. Reach out to people. Lean on their support. Pray. And, most importantly, give yourself a break. I guarantee you you are doing so much better than you think you are. God bless.

I understand, believe me. The difficult thing is dealing with other people who don’t understand your situation. I get out of breath and tied so easily and people think I’m overreacting or being lazy. If you ever want to reach out, my number is 937-791-4488.

It’s so hard now of days to even look at the positive things in life. I had a simple heart surgery when I was 2 months old and everything was fine for 22 years. Right before my 23rd birthday my heart suddenly took a turn for the worst and I needed surgery but because of the COVID situation they said I couldn’t get open heart surgery until I’m basically on my death bed. Had to make so many lifestyle changes to buy me time and it’s so difficult to stop a normal routine just to stay alive.
