Ear buds and music was my best friend in high school it helped me to keep calm when I couldn’t handle my family or when I went out in public.
Oof this is tough, I get it though because my whole family is overstimulating. I love them but they are a lot. I have found that having my "own space" during family functions helps and I also try to cut it as short as possible
Ugh, i know this feeling well. I take very frequent and long breaks in my room, usually with the light off/low, laying down and watching a movie/reading or napping. When i go out into the fray, i use earbuds/headphones. Sometimes having a comfort plush helps. Luckily, im now moved out and living with my friend, who is very quiet. Its much better! But i still go through the same thing every time i visit my family. Thats why i try to make my visits short and take my friend with me for moral support. Good luck to you!

I have this issue as well. what I do is I make sure I always have my earplugs or my ear buds with me. and if I feel like i need a break i go into the other room to lay down for a while. having a stim toy on you can help a lot.
