I’m struggling immensely with skin picking. Fidgets don’t seem to work and I’m constantly picking to the point of bandaids. Any help is greatly appreciated as I’m starting to feel extremely defeated

Putting Elmer's glue on skin, letting it dry, then picking that off can help. Or try picking at things that aren't harmful. Like pick Stickers off of something or dedicate a blanket or piece of clothing to picking at (I hope that's helpful)

Same I don't even need a mirror I do that skin searching with my hands looking for bumps and imperfections wanting to get them out. I just a ring that spins it's a daisy. In remembrance of my abuela who recently passed. To try and stop myself from spiraling in my head or emotions. To pause and remember it's not as bad as it seems. Depression makes me think things are worse. And to stop my picking. We shall see. I pick my legs, arms, back, neck, face, scalp, sometimes I would pull out my eyebrows ugh.

I've been struggling with this for over a decade. I've found that using gel bail polish is about the only thing that works. Pre-covid I used to get my nails done at a salon and it was the most helpful thing I could have done. Unfortunately I developed an allergy to the salon stuff, and now i just do it at home. I wish you luck! It's such a hard impulse to control.

Cover places you pick with clothes, plasters or bandages as this creates an extra step. Also avoid looking in mirror for too long. As distract as much as possible. It depends why you pick in what will help most.

I don’t do this, but can relate somewhat because I can’t stop scratching rashes when I get them. I have found covering up the area with clothes helps. Sometimes I’ll even put socks over my hands to make it hiking harder. Putting ice on the area sometimes helps me cut the sensation which helps and might helps for this as well because some people swear by it for sh. Sorry I can’t be more useful.

Sometimes I purposely will put the bandaids on there to keep me from picking. But then I find myself just creating a new area But the best way for me to not do it is to not look at the area, tell myself reminders to not to do even when I’m not doing it too to try and create a habit of not doing it, telling someone you are around and have them help you point out when your doing it
