Does anyone else get flare ups of POTS really intensely during your period? Any advice?

I have successfully used the mirena iud to mitigate the hormonal flares up until this year. I have one placed but I think I'm starting menopause so it is working for bc but nothing else. I'm scheduled for a full hysterectomy on the 19th to just be rid of the problem.

Yes, having a full hysterectomy in about a month. This was the deciding factor.

Yes, my cardiologist said POTS seems to be hormone related or made worse around one’s cycle. I sometimes go to urgent care to get an IV, take LMNT electrolytes (love Watermelon and Raspberry), epsom salt bath, peppermint gels/tea, ginger tea

@katehall is the peppermint for nausea? I haven’t heard of that before!

@Fibrofoggirl I have a smartwatch that tracks my heart rate and it kept trying to log a workout for me the other day during my period because my heart rate was really high but I wasn’t working out I was sitting in a chair lol. So I figured that’s POTS acting up.

Yes! For me the flares usually begin 1 week prior and during. It seems hormones can have influence on flares

I do ✋ I do my best to just stay extra hydrated, more salt, always wear my compressions, and eat less heavy meals. I don’t drink caffeine or alcohol either! Rest of course when you can! It kinda just has to take its course for me :(

@Teee I haven’t tried compression socks. Do you have a brand or type you recommend?? I am so hot in my work office all the time I don’t want to add more layers, but maybe it would be worth it.
