Anyone get social anxiety? I have severe anxiety in general but it's terrible in social situations. How do you cope with it, besides staying in your home (like I currently do).

Hi I also have really bad social anxiety.. I used to keep water and peppermints with me at all times. I used to get so nauseous when it hit.. and that helped with it some.. but other than that i have no idea.. my starting point of working through it is this app tbh.. just commenting on things here and there lol

I either go with my bestie Kimi or smoke some ganja and a good all eye contact with everyone, it helps if I'm going somewhere to get something a friend needs. I'd do anything for my friends

I'm sorry both mommabear and Kam, momma, I think maybe do smaller steps try smaller crowds smaller events or if you can go with someone to help distract you

❤️ I understand my social anxiety I think is getting worse since the diagnosis and makes me feel uncomfortable around anyone including myself and those around me.

I just started smiling more, I always have a grump don't mess with me face and it caused me to feel even more anxious because I did feel people where afraid to approach me or look at me, since I tried to look more approachable I have meet some nice people

I cope with it by listening to music.

Same UGH. It’s so hard sometimes. Sometimes I anticipate it’ll be such a horrible thing & I’ll have to talk to people (so I basically set a low expectation), but once I get there and look around I notice people who also may feel uncomfortable and say huh I’m not the only one. That relaxes me a little and I forget about all the pressure I put on myself. Not sure if that helped but wanted to share

@cbhx13 I'll have to try that next time! What do you do if someone starts talking to you? I freeze up and stay silent 😔

@MommaBear6 I always like to have topics written down ahead of time or things to talk about. A great thing to do is think of questions. If you constantly ask questions then you leave them with all the talking - how was your ride here? Where are you from? What’s your favorite part about living there?

Hi! I cope with it by making a few close friends, and then have those friends, help you make friends by introducing you and their friend
