Tired of Mental Health Stigma Against Narcissistic Personality Disorder

I'm sorry that people are still stigmatizing npd. You'd think people would know better by now.

I'm late to this but I completely agree and it's frustrating. People just do not know what narcissism even is. They see manipulation and they diagnose it with no mentions of any of the relationships to success, self-esteem, emotional intelligence, shame, trauma, and etc. It's so hard to talk about experiences with narcissism when it's so highly misunderstood.

I’ve always thought it’s crazy that people automatically assume things if someone has a certain disorder. Having npd or bpd does not automatically make someone an abuser. Just because there are cases of other people with the diagnosis acting in that way doesn’t mean it’s how everyone acts - one persons experience does not equal everyone’s experience. I’m really sorry people are making assumptions about you based off of the disorder when they don’t even know anything about who you are outside of it. I hope some day people will be educated enough to be understanding instead of jumping to conclusions and that you can feel safe against hate and assumptions when talking about your diagnosis <3
